Back to school can be a crazy time of year for many families. There are still summer events on the calendar yet you still need to prepare for the school year and limited time for both. When I decided to do back to school sessions last year, I wanted to make sure there were quick to not add to the stress of the year. As the forecast showed a chance of rain, I made the decision to move indoors and I’m so glad I did!
The Ott kids arrived with books in hand to use for their time in front of the camera. I love when clients choose to bring something that adds some personality to their session. Both kids showed their personalities beautifully and I loved captured their interactions together as we finished with some sibling shots.
Next, my kids. As photographer kids they know what I’m looking for. Sometimes my son doesn’t like doing photos but he was excited for the set up and did a tremendous job! Capturing yearly photos like these make me realize just how quickly the time goes and how much they’ve each grown.
I loved finding some wooden pennants to use for these sessions. They weren’t flimsy and worked wonderfully for the kids to hold as well as for some fun lay flats I shot as well. They store easily and I’ll be using them again for these type of sessions. While not outside as originally planned, the studio was perfect for these and I loved the pop the setup brought to the white space. All the kids were super stars and I loved capturing these moments before school officially began.
