There’s something special about the relationship between grandparents and grandkids. Documenting that special bond is always enjoyable. But when it’s your own kids with their Ma and Papa, it’s a whole other level. Three generations gathered together on a Monday evening to update photos.
“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.”
Alex Haley
I was changing studios and needed models to showcase the new space. I asked my in-laws if they would be interested in a grandparent session. The last time I shot photos for them was when they had only four grandkids and now they have six. They didn’t hesitate to say yes!
It was fun capturing moments of the grandkids with Ma and Papa. I then broke up the group to get shots of the guys and girls separately. Some of my favorites are the cheek-to-cheek shots I captured of the girls.
Another goal was to capture the whole family together. My sister- and mother-in-law made sure we were beautifully coordinated! Using my phone to focus and set the timer, helped us get the shot of us all together.
While it was chaotic at times (there were six kids eager to play), I found the energy fun. I made sure to capture some candid moments of them doing what they do best. It was a fun time at the new studio and afterward all three generations went out to dinner. A perk of being so close to Downtown Kirkwood!
