Boots, Bandanas & Baby Smiles: Roy Turns One| St. Louis Children’s Photographer

First birthdays are a very special milestone, more so for the parents than the child. When it’s your youngest, the milestone might become more sentimental. I met Nancy and her kids in their backyard to document some moments of her youngest son, Roy in a cute rodeo themed shoot.

Before the rodeo fun, we captured some simple shots of Roy sitting in a rocking chair and on a blanket in some cute overalls. Roy’s siblings became my assistants holding a backdrop for some of the images. Nancy desired to get some neutral shots to easily display in her home.

Then we had some western fun! Outfitted in denim, a bandana and cowboy hat, Roy was all smiles and laughs. Some of the cutest moments came from his time on top a small toy horse and as he stood beside a chair, this time in a onesie and hat.

Capturing childhood moments, especially milestones like a first birthday brings a smile to my face. Roy is such a chill baby, I was delighted that I was able to capture his personality in this small session. Getting Roy’s siblings involved in helping me make him laugh gave them pride as we finished our time together.
