Waiting for Baby | St. Louis Maternity Photographer

Anne Christian Buchanan said, “To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and distressingly inhabited. Soul and spirit are stretched – along with body – making pregnancy a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings.”

For Lucas and Taylor Fortner, they are thrilled to welcome their firstborn into this world. After months of planning, preparing and learning, the time is almost here! As I talked to each of them, I could feel an eagerness to finally meet their daughter. Taylor chose two amazing dresses, both her favorite color, which she plans to use throughout the nursery. Taylor was simply gorgeous in each and radiated that lovely mom-to-be glow. They brought along some props, including adorable baby booties and a storybook that Taylor’s mom read to her as a child.

I absolutely love connecting and capturing moments of couples at this exciting stage, welcoming their first child. It gives me the opportunity to think back to that time in my own life – the eagerness, the changes, the nerves. I was surprised at how few people were out in the park despite it being a beautiful evening! I loved how thoughtful Taylor was to include the book that held so many memories to her.

Elizabeth Stone said, “Making the decision to have a baby is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” As the Fortners anticipate Natalie’s birth, I’m sure they’re realizing their hearts will be forever changed.
