Brian Tracy once said, “A goal without a plan is only a dream.” When I heard this stated on a podcast, I was struck by how many of my “goals” are really dreams because I never enacted a plan. Since hearing it, I’ve been more proactive to create plans centered around my goals to achieve them.
I could go on and on about this goal or that goal and the plans to bring those to achievement, boring many of you, but I decided to share three words that I desire Rare Vision to emulate this year.
Connection
Connection is a big word for me because I desire to connect with others, whether that’s a client, a client’s loved one or just someone who admires the moments I capture. Connection involves not only a connection in a social post or email, but also the connection when I meet someone face-to-face. I want clients to feel instantly at ease and comfortable with me at the start, developing that connection into trust. Famous photographer Annie Leibovitz said, “A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people.” I want my photos to showcase connection within them from the people in the photograph to me behind the camera.
Fun
Ansel Adams said, “If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph.” I often get thrilled during a session because I realize I’m doing something I love and have fun doing it! I love to hear from clients that they also had fun during our time together. One client left a review that included these words, “…the first time we actual(ly) had fun at a photo shoot!” Wow! I want each and every client share they had a great time at a Rare Vision session!
Beauty
I desire when people see images I capture and say, “Wow! What beauty!” I chose the word vision in my company name as a synonym to beauty. I want to capture moments of beauty whether that’s those first moments after the “surprise!” at a party or showcasing the talent of a momma who has grown it into a side hustle or it’s those tender moments of new parents with their bundle of joy. I want images of Rare Vision’s to describe a photography in Marc Riboud’s words: “Taking pictures is savoring life intensely every hundredth of a second.”
Someone once said, “A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.” I’m excited to enact the plan I have this year to make 2022 full of connection, fun and beauty.
