When Gigi is in town celebrating her 92 years on earth, you make it a big deal! I was excited to have my schedule free to capture the Harris family alongside Gigi and Baxter’s mom and step-dad. We met out at Shaw Nature Reserve and found some simple yet beautiful spots for photos, staying away from the hoards of homecoming goers.
When we arrived there was a beautiful field of wildflowers right beside our vehicles so we started there first, then moved to an area with lovely trees and a fence the boys loved climbing on. During our time together I made sure to get tons of photos with Gigi including ones with her daughter, grandson and great grandsons. I made sure to capture moments of each family, grandparents with grandkids, couple shots, sibling photos and individual of the boys, showcasing their different personalities (and one, his boots!)
Knowing there was going to be a surprise at the end, I got everyone ready before Laura brought out a cake complete with lit candles. We sang happy birthday and after everyone helped Gigi blow the candles out, the boys got to enjoy some of the cake. I warned Baxter that his idea of putting it in his grandmother’s face probably would not go well for him, so instead captured some lovely moments with him and her together before we ended our time.
Shaw Nature Reserve is a perfect spot for family photos, boasting beautiful gardens and locations that can be unique to each group. I loved getting to know this family quickly and be a part of the festivities of Gigi’s birthday.
