A fresh 48 session occurs while a newborn baby’s age is counted in days or maybe even hours. It often includes mom and dad and often siblings too.

Baby Webb made his debut into the world late February. I was giddy that I got to document the whole immediate family of nine in a fresh 48 session!

Capturing the Webb family is anything but ordinary. As youngest girl was wrapped cozy with mom, the two older girls fought over who would hold their baby brother. The newest big brother of the group couldn’t contain his grin, while the other brothers were content doing their own thing.

Dad, Darren, enjoyed handing off baby to each sibling plus teasing his oldest daughter about not giving her a turn. You could tell as each sibling held their newest sibling, they were smitten. Both parents were soaking in all the love and togetherness.

Once dad took the kids home for lunch, naps and some fun, it was still and quiet. I used the time to capture some portraits of Baby Webb in his bed. I captured moments of her trying to wake him for his next feeding with tender kisses and love.

There’s something simplistic and beautiful I love about a fresh 48 session. It’s not a highly posed session but is more of documentary style, which I enjoy. It creates a story of the moments after a birth before they head home from the hospital. I loved capturing these moments for my sister and her growing family.
