While today (and this week) is full of rain, the rain will soon make way for the POP that comes with spring. It’s amazing how quickly things go from drab to beautiful. Since spring will soon be here I wanted to revise an older post (read the old one here) and share some of my current favorites to shoot at! Here are seven picture-perfect spring locations:
Missouri Botanical Gardens
Not many people reach out to me about taking photos here and I’m baffled why. While there is a photography restraint from commercial shoots, families can arrange to meet a photographer and capture moments here. As a member of the garden, there is no additional cost for my clients to enter the garden which is a win! I’ve captured an array of sessions here, from pregnancy announcement to a recent wedding.
The garden provides a huge plus in that they showcase what’s in bloom inside their welcome center which allows us to save time from trying to scout out the blooms in the immense garden.

Tower Grove Park
Just a block away from the Missouri Botanical Gardens is the stunning Tower Grove Park. This once belonged to Henry Shaw as well as the gardens and was donated to the city to create a city park. The Piper Palm House and Ruins might be the most notable, but there are some other locations within the park that aren’t as busy as these and provide beautiful backdrops.

Laumeier Sculpture Park
I took a break from hosting mini sessions here but this year I’m bringing them back! This park has been one of my favorites since I started out and it boasts beautiful blooms as well as beautiful structural backdrops. There’s a picture perfect spot I take my clients to for some wood magic as well!

Bee Tree Park
What’s not to love when you have a historic mansion (Nims Mansion) for a backdrop to your photos? Daffodils nearby make a magical experience and I’m always excited for a lakeside session. Whether you’re wanting to stroll the mansion grounds or would rather take a walk around the lake, it’s a pretty amazing location!

Queeny Park
Since discovering the Mason Road entrance, this park has held a spot in my heart. I love utilizing the barn and Jarville Greenhouse as beautiful backdrops for photos. The parks department does a stunning job bridging the space between the two making it lush and so pretty. I’ll be returning here this spring for more mini sessions.

Lafayette Square Park
Considered the oldest urban park west of the Mississippi, this small but mighty park boasts some picture-perfect spots. The grotto is a beautiful spot featuring lovely plants, a pond and beautiful bridge. It is lovingly maintained by volunteers from the community. Another fun spot is the Kern Pavilion which provides wonderful structure for a backdrop. While not the park, the surrounding homes often provides visual interest for photos.

Forest Park
The Queen of the St. Louis Parks, this gem boasts so many wonderful locations. From the well known and loved Art Hill, The Muny or World’s Fair Pavilion to other not well so known locations, I love scouting out the perfect spot for my clients. There are so many spots, I could find a unique spot for each client who wanted to book here.

There you have it! Seven beautiful locations in the St. Louis area I love to shoot at during the spring. Do you have a favorite spring location? I would love to hear your favorite spot! This spring I’m excited to host my mini sessions at two of them. If you would like to be the first one to book a spot, join my Visionary Insiders.
