What’s Saving My Life – Spring 2025 | St. Louis Documentary Photographer

Photographer Bernard Williams once said, “The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring.” After the long days of winter, spring bursts forth with warmth, light and beauty. There are six things particularly saving my life this spring that I wanted to share with you all.

Spring Blooms

Being able to see everything in bloom warms my heart. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to take a walk around The Missouri Botanical Garden by myself. It was a beautiful, sunny day and I got to walk around the gardens. It was a fabulous day capturing the flowers and trees starting to bud. It gave me a excitement for the upcoming season.

Outside Time

With winter being a hibernation of sorts. spring is perfect to spend more time outside. One daily goal I have this season is to spend significant time outside. Whether it’s working outside, meeting a friend for coffee or playing with my kids, outside time boosts my mood and gives me some calmness.

Kids Doing Things They Love

Allowing two kids to participate in extracurriculars can be challenging, but it’s also rewarding. Witnessing the skills my kids have learned in music, theatre and sports, has given me so much pride. They learn also how to interact with other adults and engage with peers. Seeing the delight on their faces when they make a play or finally nail down their lines, lifts my spirits in a way nothing else does.

“The Plan” by Kendra Adachi

I believe I mentioned this book in an earlier list but now that I’ve finished it, it has changed how I think about planning and scheduling things. Before reading this book, I would power through each week as it was the same. I thought there shouldn’t be anything different, but I realized the disservice to myself. Now I’m more kinder, quicker to give myself extra sleep or extra space when things are not going as planned. This book was a life giver and I would recommend every women should read!

Tinted Lip Balm

I don’t usually wear a lot of lipstick but when I made a recent purchase from Primally Pure, I decided to give their tinted lip balm a try. I’m super impressed by the color, it isn’t too loud, but gives my lips a little more color. The lip balm delivers on its moisture, nourishing my lips in the process of making my look a little more together.

Spring Nail Colors

Since discovering Olive & June, I’ve been a fan. Even though I’m extremely hard on my hands, my self-manicures usually last a week and it’s become a routine to do on most Saturday evenings. The bright and vibrant colors I have for spring and so pretty, I’m loving choosing a new color each manicure. It gives me a little happiness every time I look down at my nails.

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”
– Audrey Hepburn

While these things are not the only things saving my life in this season, they are things that are filling my life with delight and happiness. Spring can be challenging as some things are winding down and other things are starting up, often with overlap. I hope you take a moment to notice things in your life, saving it in this season of spring.
