I met Alissa Albinson, this year’s Super Mom, at Queeny Park on the first day of fall for her first session. Her two daughters, sons-in-law and granddaughters joined her for a fun family session. Nominated by her daughter, Lauren, she was super excited for our time together and so was I.
Her nomination
“My mom has always been a super mom in my eyes,” wrote Lauren in her nomination. “She is kind, loving, giving, and selfless. She raised two amazing daughters (if I may say so myself) and has been a phenomenal grandmother to my two beautiful nieces. My mom has faced several significant challenges throughout her life, including being diagnosed with breast cancer (praise the Lord she is still with us today!), working through my dad being diagnosed with cancer just a year after her diagnosis, and I think even more difficult, losing both her dad and her husband within nine months of one another.
“It was an extremely difficult year and she was a fighter through it all. She has continued to be the stronghold of our family throughout it all. We are in the sixth year since we lost these amazing men in our lives and seeing her growth throughout these past years as been an honor. Her faith in God has never wavered and this is such an inspiration to me as I continue to live my life.”
The Session
Alissa’s family perfectly coordinated their outfits for our time together and I could sense everyone was excited. While it was a beautiful evening, it was almost like we had the entire park to ourselves! I took images of the entire group, individual families, Alissa with her girls, plus so many fun candid moments including a dance party of Alissa with her granddaughters. One of my favorites was capturing sisters doing the same shot they did as teens plus having the younger sisters do the same pose.
It was a stunning day when I met Alissa and her beautiful family. Knowing how much work her daughters took upon themselves to have friends and family vote for their mom, thrilled me to capture moments for her (and them)! I’m excited to see them soon for her second session, which will be a fun Christmas shoot!
