Cake smashes are so much fun; I never know what to expect! Some kids eat their cake very delicately while some quickly jump in like a ravenous monster.
“Your first birthday is extremely special because you can have your cake with your hands, feet or face!”
I had the privilege of capturing Jenning’s first moments last year and was delighted to be invited to the Woodland home to document his cake smash.
I was greeted at the door by Pearl, Jenning’s older sister, who was so ecstatic about me coming. I took advantage of her excitement, and took some photos of the whole family together. We also captured some portraits of each of the kids since I brought a special chair they were delighted to sit on and have me take a photo.
“Dear baby, your life will be full of losses and findings, but I hope you never lose the smile on your face or the kindness in your heart throughout!”
Jennifer, Jenning’s mom, created an adorable onesie featuring Mickey (Jenning’s favorite) for the cake smash part of our session. (Side Note: Walmart provides a free smash cake if you purchase cake from them.) I could tell that Jennings was very excited about the cake in front of him, though a little cautious at first. He quickly decided that the cake was all for him and dug in.
